The online event, to be held Wednesday, January 13, at 12:00 p.m. EST, is the final webinar in a series sponsored by the Wallace Foundation to showcase the work of the initiative. Earlier installments addressed laying the foundation for change, building partnerships among districts and institutions of higher education, and revising process and practice to enhance districts’ and principals’ commitment to professional development and improvement. AACTE will host its second annual Job and Information Fair during the 68th Annual Meeting at The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. Promote your program or organization for just $150!
The event will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016, 1:15 – 3:15 p.m. in the Conference Community Center and open to all Annual Meeting attendees.
Tables will be available in two areas:
- Job Fair – This option is for institutions and affiliates looking to advertise, and potentially interview, AACTE Annual Meeting attendees regarding positions available.
- Information Table – This option is for institutions and affiliates looking to market, promote, and exchange ideas and best practices from programs currently ongoing within their organization.

Did you miss the latest installment in the Principal Pipeline Initiative webinar series, “Assessing and Enhancing Commitment”? Don’t fret: We’ve posted the recording to our Resource Library, along with other archived content from this fall’s series, sponsored by the Wallace Foundation.
Presenters in this third webinar in the free series included participants in the pipeline initiative: Debra Morris of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Michelle Young of the University Council for Educational Administration and the University of Virginia, and Jevelyn Bonner-Reed of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (NC). These panelists discussed their experiences and concerns related to planning, implementation, data collection, preassessment protocols, mentoring, and assessment as well as the impact of the district and partner activities on student learning, principal quality, and school improvement.

To help you tell your story, AACTE is hosting a three-part webinar series this fall titled “If You Don’t Say It, Who Will?” which offers strategies for how to engage your internal networks and PK-12 partners as well as how to be sure the media and other audiences hear your messages. Won’t you join us in our ongoing campaign to debunk myths about educator preparation and teacher quality?
The first webinar in the series ran November 16, as dozens of you tuned in for “If You Don’t Say It, Who Will? Engaging Internal Networks to Tell Your Story” led by AACTE Director of Marketing and Communications Jerrica Thurman. This event taught participants how to create engagement and communication within their institutions to build a stronger channel for promoting the meaningful work happening in their educator preparation programs. Thurman also shared strategies for recruiting students, faculty, communication officers, and others to spread the word about the impact their program is making. In addition to discussing how to develop dynamic key messages and to identify news worthy to share, Thurman walked participants through the steps to develop a successful communications strategy:

Join AACTE for a free webinar featuring recent work to prepare educators to teach the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in mathematics. “Preparing Teacher Candidates for Common Core State Standards in Mathematics: The Sequel” will be held Tuesday, December 15, at 2:00 p.m. EST.
With support from the Learning First Alliance’s Get It Right campaign, AACTE is offering a two-part webinar series highlighting the work of educator preparation programs to develop teachers ready to prepare PK-12 students for CCSS . The first webinar, held in October, focused on a successful effort to implement the standards in programs throughout Kentucky (view the recorded webinar here).
The December webinar is the second in the series and also serves as a sequel to a major forum held at AACTE’s 66th Annual Meeting in 2014. Learn about successful methods, models, and technology tools used in preparing preservice teachers to implement CCSS mathematics standards in their classrooms.

A recent report by the Albert Shanker Institute, The State of Teacher Diversity in American Education, identifies teacher diversity in our nation’s schools as “an educational civil right for students” that is not adequately represented in the current educator workforce. In AACTE’s webinar, “Advancing Diversity in the Teaching Workforce: Three Initiatives Working Toward Solutions,” participants in three initiatives will “tell the story” of their work, providing the background for their initiative, the key issues and challenges they are addressing, and the progress they have made to identify solutions.

Learn how AACTE member institutions in Kentucky are successfully implementing the standards in a free AACTE webinar, “Is Common Core Impossible?” Tuesday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
Thanks to a grant from the Learning First Alliance’s Get It Right campaign, AACTE will host this webinar as the first in a two-part series on CCSS implementation in educator preparation programs. This webinar focuses on the successful work of the Kentucky Association of Colleges for Teacher Education in facilitating its members’ work to align their educator preparation programs with CCSS after Kentucky became the first state to adopt the standards. Presenters will discuss how a communication strategy, community involvement, policy advancement and alignment, and professional development and capacity building were used for successful implementation.

Participants in the inaugural Project LEAD Summit of the Associated Colleges of Illinois
On September 25, AACTE staff had the privilege of taking part in the inaugural Project LEAD (Leaders in Education Advocating for Diversity) Summit in Chicago, Illinois. The summit was a daylong conference conducted by the Associated Colleges of Illinois Center for Success in High-Need Schools to engage teacher candidates and faculty in interactive discussions focused on increasing diversity in the teacher workforce.
