Reasons to Vote on AACTE’s Proposed Bylaw Amendments 

Voting on AACTE’s proposed bylaw amendments is open now through November 22. These changes, recommended by the AACTE Board of Directors’ Task Force, aim to enhance the Association’s governance structure to better serve its mission in today’s rapidly changing educational environment. 

The following are key reasons for Chief Representatives to participate in this important vote: 

  1. Strengthening Governance for the Future 
    The task force, made up of current and former board members, conducted in-depth research to ensure AACTE’s governance reflects the best practices needed to support our evolving profession. Voting on these changes gives you a direct voice in shaping a structure that will impact AACTE’s effectiveness for years to come. 

  2. Alignment with AACTE’s Mission 
    The proposed changes are designed to ensure that AACTE’s leadership structure remains well-suited to advancing the Association’s mission. Your vote will help ensure the board can effectively advocate for educators and respond to the shifting landscape of educator preparation. 

  3. Informed Engagement Opportunities 
    AACTE has provided resources to help you understand the proposed changes and their significance: 
    • Webinar Town Hall: Led by Gayle E. Hutchinson, Ed.D., chair of the AACTE Board Composition Task Force, this session provided an overview of the proposed bylaw amendments. Access the recording for detailed insights. 
    • FAQ Document: The FAQs address critical questions and clarifies the rationale and expected impact of the amendments.  

Member institutions’ Chief Representatives received instructions to vote via email and are encouraged to review the supporting materials and participate in this pivotal vote.
