New Features Coming to AACTE Quality Support Workshop
Do you ever find that you have to leave your office to make progress on important work? At your desk, the urgent can often crowd out the important so that, at the end of the day, you know you were incredibly busy but can’t say that you made progress on any of your real priorities. Leaving the office can be a great way to set aside the day-to-day tumult and really focus.
When you need to tackle the important work of measuring, improving, and assuring the quality of your educator preparation programs, AACTE is ready to help. The 2018 Quality Support Workshop, August 2–4 in Columbus, Ohio, will help you make rapid progress on your quality assurance plan.
This year’s workshop builds on the successes from our 2017 events and incorporates new enhancements based on participant feedback. In the first half of the workshop, we’ll offer a choice of two tracks of sessions to help you create or improve your quality assurance system. Three expert-led sessions in each track will help you select (or refine) performance measures that are valid and reliable, support continuous improvement, and identify how you can increase your graduates’ effectiveness in the classroom. Track A is for those building their first quality assurance plan; Track B caters to those who have a plan in place that they want to refine and improve.
Here are just some of the other new features:
- Built-in time to work on your quality assurance plan and opportunities for peer and facilitator feedback.
- “Office hours” with session facilitators to ask in-depth questions and get personalized advice.
- A “Problem of Practice” session that offers the opportunity to get your peers’ advice on how to handle a thorny challenge in the area of measuring and improving program quality.
- A “Gallery Walk” featuring performance metrics, rubrics, and other tools that attendees have brought to share.
Whether you come with a campus team or on your own, we are working to maximize your time in Columbus. Our goal is to ensure that you can set aside the urgent and make progress on the important. Explore the agenda online and register today!
