Are you ready to delve into the heart of educator preparation advocacy? Look no further than AACTE Washington Week — set against the backdrop of the nation’s capital, June 3–5 in Washington, DC. This event promises an unparalleled opportunity to engage with key policymakers, thought leaders, and advocates in the field of education.

Day One: Monday, June 3

The week kicks off with a networking breakfast, where attendees can fuel up and connect with peers. For first-time attendees, a special session on Federal Education Policy 101 will offer invaluable insights into navigating the complex landscape of federal policies affecting educator preparation programs (EPPs).

Following the welcome, delve into discussions on new federal regulations affecting EPPs and participate in a half-day Institute for State Affiliate Organization Leaders.

Expert panels throughout the day cover a range of crucial topics, like “Effective Advocacy in a Hyper-Partisan Environment to Crafting a Federal Educator Workforce Policy,” providing attendees with actionable strategies and perspectives.

Day Two: Tuesday, June 4

State leaders can schedule individual media training provided by AACTE to sharpen their skills around high-priority topics affecting EPPs. Attendees will receive updates on the federal budget and legislative priorities to start their day in the regular program. Next, engage with the AACTE advocacy team during “Office Hours” and participate in facilitated State Team Time to prepare for the Day on the Hill.

Gain key insights from Jane West, Ph.D., author of Advocating for the Common Good, as she discusses the intricacies of advocacy on Capitol Hill in a captivating book talk. Wrap up the day with a networking reception, fostering connections and camaraderie among attendees.

Day Three: Wednesday, June 5

Washington Week culiminates when attendees embark on a journey to Capitol Hill for the highly anticipated Day on the Hill. Engage in meetings with representatives and senators, amplifying the collective voice of the educator preparation community and shaping the future of education policy.
