Blanca Jurado Named May Holmes Scholar of the Month

Congratulations to Blanca Jurado, Holmes Scholar of the Month for May 2023!

Blanca Jurado is a doctoral student at Texas Woman’s University. She earned her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas at Arlington and her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix.

Featured in Voyage Dallas for her empowering and inspiring narrative filled with determination, courage, and resilience, Jurado’s journey to becoming an educator ignited her passions, leading her to dedicate over 13 years to the field of education.

Prior to her present projects, she held the position as an elementary English language arts, bilingual, and gifted and talented teacher. Currently, she serves as the bilingual academic specialist and interventionist for the Irving Independent School District in Irving, Texas. Jurado’s research focuses on bilingual education and meeting the needs of historically marginalized communities.
