Registration Now Open: 2023 Leadership Academy
Registration is now open for AACTE’s Leadership Academy — a unique opportunity for deans, department chairs, and other administrators and faculty to enhance their leadership skills, address current issues, and build a professional peer network. Whether just beginning your career in academic leadership, or a seasoned and experienced leader with years of experience, this year’s Leadership Academy provides professional development that is essential and applicable to everyone, including a New Deans Academy:
- Leadership Academy: Sunday, July 30 – Thursday, August 3, and
- New Deans Academy: Thursday, August 3 – Friday, August 4
My biggest takeaway from my first Academy was the valuable insight into the experience of being a leader. I learned how leaders think, what they value, and what they strive to accomplish. At my second Academy, I learned how leadership changes in different roles or at different levels. Simultaneously, I became more aware of the similarities among leadership positions regardless of role or level. By the time I completed my third Leadership Academy experience, I felt I understood the different levels of leadership in a college. Attendees will participate in strategic conversation that will empower leaders to return to your campus with elevated narratives, best practices, and tactics to deliver across your institution and continue critical discussion with refreshed and innovative perspectives, approaches, and results. - Partnerships, collaboration and external relations
- Creating a supportive, inclusive, and successful climate on campus
- Communication within a university and successfully navigating the political environment
- New Deans Academy: Do’s and don’ts in your first 180 days
