NJACTE to Host Annual Day of Assessment
On Thursday, March 30, the New Jersey Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (NJACTE) will be hosting our Annual Day of Assessment with the theme, “Authenticity and Improvement: Reimagining Assessment in a Changing Landscape.” The conference is free to attend and open to all AACTE affiliate members and their professional networks. A Pre-Conference Session “8 Approaches to Transform Your Self Study into Meaningful Reflections” by our generous sponsor HelioCampus will begin at 1:00 p.m. The pre-conference session will be followed by the opening presentation “Assessment and Continuous Improvement: We’re Doing Everything Right, But Are We Doing the Right Things?” with panelists from The College of New Jersey and Rutgers University – New Brunswick.
Concurrent presentations will begin at 2:20 p.m.: “The Clinical Competency Inventory: A Valid Performance Assessment Instrument” will present the latest version of the Clinical Competency Inventory, discuss the development of the instrument, and share how you can use it for evaluating the performance of your clinical interns and student teachers. “How to Organize and Facilitate Focus Groups” will provide an overview of how to conduct a focus group in your work, and more.
The closing presentation, “Performance-Based Assessment when edTPA is No Longer Required: Alternative and Lessons Learned” will begin at 3:10 p.m., will discuss how EPPs address the development and use of culminating performance-based assessments in light of edTPA removal in NJ and the region as a certification requirement.
The NJACTE Day of Assessment Conference is part of our overall efforts to increase member engagement, providing a valuable opportunity for faculty, staff, administrators, and students to come together and learn from each other on various aspects of assessment in educator preparation.
