AACTE Celebrates Civic Learning Week
AACTE joins scores of organizations in celebrating this year’s Civic Learning Week, which takes place from March 6 – 10. This is a critical moment to call for increased understanding of the essentials of our government, how to engage with elected officials and understanding the rights and responsibilities of citizens.
Over the past several years, AACE has witnessed an assault on our civic infrastructure, with calls to restrict curriculum taught in our nation’s classrooms, removed certain books from libraries and assaults on our democratic institutions.
AACTE has joined with like minded individuals and organizations to counter these efforts. And while our efforts have been fruitful, more must be done, and your voice is critical to this effort. AACTE encourages you to participate in an event or engage your students, colleagues, and friends about the importance of civic engagement as part of Civic Learning Week.
