Have You Shared a Way to Support Educators through AACTE’s 75 Days | 75 Ways Campaign?

On January 10, AACTE celebrates the first 30 days of its 75-day campaign sharing successful ways to move education forward — at the local, state, or federal levels.  As an AACTE member, you still have time to join your peers in showing support for educators and be a part of the AACTE 75 Days | 75 Ways to Advocate for Education campaign, celebrating AACTE’s 75 years of leadership in advancing educator preparation.

Tips from AACTE thought leadership over the past week can help advance and elevate the teaching profession in multiple ways:

“You may be wondering, why should I advocate for teacher preparation programs and what are some quick possible strategies,” asks Lisa Bisogno, chair of the AACTE Committee on Government Relations and Advocacy committee. “Make sure to follow up with legislation after you meet with them and try to network locally and the state level, especially those networking groups where you know your legislators are heavily involved.”

“As educators, scholars, and practitioners, we are uniquely positioned to build deep community ties to disrupt systems of inequality that impact economically oppressed communities, people of color, and students with learning differences to build long-term sustainable solutions collaboratively,” says AACTE Board Member Kimberly White-Smith, Ed.D., University of San Diego Dean of the School of Leadership and Educational Sciences.

“During AACTE’s Washington Week, educators can meet other educators and have great conversations about educational policies and about issues important to our communities and students. I’ve organized panels with different educators to talk about some of the issues relating to diversity in the communities we serve,” says AACTE Holmes Scholar Vivian Medina-Messner.

Watch the latest video tip from AACTE Committee on Innovation and Technology Co-Chair Michael McVey on how to impact the quality of schools for all and support teachers in your community.

Leading up to the AACTE Annual Meeting in Indianapolis on February 24 – 26, AACTE will continue to highlight tips daily from its members to show support for educators and educator preparation through its social media platforms and on the website.
