AACTE Helps Launch ‘Here for the Kids’ Campaign
There has never been a more critical time to work together to support public education and students’ success. AACTE is joining forces with Learning First Alliance and partners across the country to support a critical effort to help ensure a bright future for our children.
The Here for the Kids campaign brings together families, educators, and community members to shine a light on local public schools and tell the stories of the amazingly positive things happening in classrooms and school buildings nationwide.
AACTE joined education community leaders at the launch of the Here for the Kids event on Oct. 4 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to reaffirm its commitment to childhood education. AACTE Dean in Residence Leslie Fenwick, Ph.D., presented on how education programs at colleges are helping to pave the way for future teachers. View the event launch via Facebook or Twitter.
“Public schools are the foundation of our democratic republic. Constitutionally, public schools are the nation’s primary institutions devoted to educating new generations of American citizens,” said Fenwick. “Strong public schools also help secure social cohesion and unity, national security, and economic stability. Given these herculean responsibilities, AACTE celebrates and stands in solidarity with public school educators, staff members, and community members whose daily work supports each student’s positive life outcomes. AACTE affirms its mission to elevate education and educator preparation through research, professional practice, advocacy, and collaboration.”

Here for the Kids is a collaboration of the Learning First Alliance and its 13 partner organizations – AACTE, AASA: The School Superintendents Association, American Federation of Teachers, American School Counselor Association, Consortium for School Networking, Learning Forward, National PTA, National Association of Elementary School Principals, National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Education Association, National School Boards Association, National School Public Relations Association, and PDK International.
