“On behalf of AACTE I have worked with the Global Network of Deans of Education and through that work have become friends with Dr. Lorena Medina, former dean of education at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (UC) and organizer of this event,” said Gangone. “During a visit to Chile in May, Lorena and I met and together we decided to have AACTE be part of this inaugural convening of Latin American deans. As the teacher shortage persists worldwide, I am hopeful that together we can create solutions that span our borders.”

The meeting features presentations by the rector of UC, Ignacio Sánchez, and the dean of the UC Faculty of Education, Alejandro Carrasco. The executive director and spokesperson for the Board of Directors of Siemens Stiftung, Nina Smidt, spoke on “Educational Innovation in the Latin American Context.”
