Coming Together to Help Students Thrive
The National Partnership for Student Success is a public-private partnership committed to providing the supports that will help our students succeed and specifically addresses the ability for students to thrive post-COVID. AACTE has proudly joined the National Partnership for Student Success as a Champion of the initiative.
The NPSS connects nonprofits, school districts, state and local education agencies, federal agencies, philanthropy, and national and community organizations to support a nationwide three-year effort to recruit, screen, train, support, and engage an additional 250,000 adults in roles serving as tutors, mentors, student success coaches, wraparound service coordinators, and post-secondary transition coaches. Research shows that these five categories of evidence-based student supports together result in gains in reading and math, high school and college graduation rates, reductions in chronic absenteeism, and improved student well-being and mental health. The Johns Hopkins Everyone Graduates Center, the hub home of NPSS, will provide technical assistance, support the recruitment of AmeriCorps members and volunteers, and research the outcomes of the partnership.
They will work in close coordination with parents, educators, and others in roles that research shows result in gains in reading and math, high school and college graduation rates, reductions in chronic absenteeism, and improved student well-being and mental health.
The NPSS will help our nation meet this goal by supporting schools, non-profit organizations, colleges, workplaces, state agencies, and community-based champions in working together to provide students with people-powered supports based on locally determined needs. It will help organizations expand, improve and/or create high-quality, evidence-based programs to support students’ learning and thriving.
AACTE members are invited to support the NPSS. We encourage you to check out the recording of the White House event on student success and/or the recording of the launch party and panel discussion hosted by InnovateEDU. Also, check out these two videos that both can be shared via social media: one from our partners at the U.S. Department of Education and one from the NPSS team.
