AACTE’s Consortium for Research-Based and Equitable Assessments Needs You

Marketing segmentation, target market, target audience, customers care, customer relationship management (CRM), human resources recruit and customer analysis concepts, bokeh in background. The Consortium for Research-Based and Equitable Assessments (CREA) is seeking your help to recruit teacher candidates, teachers, and faculty for its upcoming focus groups. The Consortium, which is comprised of educator preparation programs (EPPs) and state and local education agency representatives across 14 states, is examining the processes and considerations that states use to determine cut scores for entrance (i.e., Praxis Core) and teacher licensure examinations.

Through data collection of key stakeholders, analysis of trends and policies, and shared learning, the Consortium will produce recommendations and guidelines to establish equitable criteria for setting qualifying scores and model state policies that promote equity and diversity in the profession.

There are three intended outcomes for the planned focus groups. First, the focus groups will present an opportunity for CREA members to hear directly from candidates, recent alumni, and faculty about the impact and challenges of entrance and exit examinations. Second, the focus groups will elicit ideas to ensure that testing policies do not prevent talented students of color from entering and persisting in the teaching profession. Finally, the focus groups will allow CREA members to understand the types of financial and academic support that would help candidates manage testing requirements.

Below are the dates and times associated with the upcoming focus groups. Interested participants are encouraged to visit the registration links provided below to review the consent statement and register to participate in any of the focus groups.  The registration will remain open up until 24 hours prior to the respective focus group date. Focus group participants will receive a modest incentive for their participation.
