New Leadership Team Elected for Maryland Association of Colleges of Teacher Education
Please welcome our new Board of Directors for 2021 – 22. The Maryland Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (MACTE) serves as the state-level affiliate for the American Association for Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE) and represent the institutions of higher education that prepare educators within Maryland. Chapters provide a vehicle for teacher educators to take a unified position on state-specific issues and to meet as partners or as responsible adversaries with the state departments, teachers’ organizations, and other stakeholder groups.
MACTE’s leadership team also serves on AACTE’s Advisory Council of State Representatives (ACSR), — a collaborative network for chapter leaders across the states to bring state-level perspectives to all AACTE activities. MACTE is a crucial instrument for advocacy at the local, state, and national levels.
MACTE meetings are held throughout the academic year and members are encouraged to participate. All regionally accredited colleges and universities which are members of AACTE in Maryland engaged in the preparation of professional school personnel, including paraprofessionals who have contact with children in the teaching-learning process and have state program approval— are eligible for membership. All other regionally accredited colleges and universities in Maryland which are non-AACTE member institutions will be eligible for associate membership in MACTE.
For more information, please contact a member of the MACTE leadership team.
