Join AACTE’s Leadership

Engage as a Volunteer

These are extraordinary times, and educator preparation is essential to our national recovery.  Now more than ever, your association needs committed, talented, and thoughtful leaders!

Are you ready to assume a leadership role in the national educator preparation community, or do you know someone who is? Nominate yourself or a colleague by May 14 to serve on the AACTE Board of Directors or a programmatic advisory committee.

AACTE is currently seeking applications from volunteers to stand for election as an at-large representative to the Board of Directors and to serve on the following programmatic advisory committees:

  • Educator Diversity
  • Global Diversity
  • Government Relations and Advocacy
  • Holmes Program
  • Innovation and Technology
  • Meetings and Professional Development
  • Membership Development and Capacity Building
  • Research and Dissemination

AACTE Chief Representatives and Institutional Representatives are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, provided that there has been at least three years since any prior service on the Board.

All faculty, staff, and administrators from member institutions are eligible to serve on a programmatic advisory committee. Members may not serve on more than one programmatic advisory committee at the same time.

Self-nominations are accepted. The nominator and nominee must be from current AACTE member institutions.

Timing and Term Commitment

There are two expected vacancies for at-large representatives to the Board of Directors. Terms of service are for three years from March 1, 2022 to February 28, 2025. Board candidates will be selected by October 2021 and a member election for Board vacancies will occur in November 2021. The Board meets three times each year, with one of those meetings typically occurring in-person at the AACTE Annual Meeting.

Committee appointments will be approved by the AACTE Board of Directors in early fall. Those appointed will serve a 3-year term beginning March 1, 2022. Committees typically meet once in person during the AACTE Annual Meeting and virtually during the remainder of the year.

The call for nominations closes May 14, 2021.
