Join AACTE for two members-only webinars detailing the findings of its newest report Colleges of Education: A National Portrait, released August 9. As the National Portrait author, I will present on two key issues highlighted in the report—enrollment/degree and student diversity trends:

National Portrait: Deep Dive on Education Degree Trends

AACTE’s recent report Colleges of Education: A National Portrait documents the declining number of education degrees being awarded at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dig into the report’s rich store of data with me to review recent and historical trends, understand the specializations in which students are earning degrees, and contextualize enrollment in education programs within broader trends in higher education. Consider what analyses colleges might conduct to better understand their own enrollment data and trends.

National Portrait: Deep Dive on EPP Student Diversity

The lack of racial/ethnic and gender diversity among students in educator preparation programs continues to be a serious concern in the United States. While AACTE initiatives such as the Holmes Program and the networked improvement community focused on Black and Hispanic/Latino men work to address this challenge, AACTE’s recent report Colleges of Education: A National Portrait provides a detailed picture of student characteristics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. During the webinars, I will share up-to-date analysis of data released since the National Portrait was completed as well as highlight areas for educator preparation programs to examine using their own data. I will also address the following critical questions:

  • Is the current enrollment downturn an entirely new phenomenon, or part of a larger historical pattern?
  • How does the diversity of education programs compare to the rest of higher education?
  • In addition to gender and race/ethnicity, what do we know about the characteristics of education students?
  • What do current trends suggest about the future landscape of educator preparation?

The webinars will include time for participant discussion and Q&A, and recordings will be available for future viewing. You won’t want to miss these webinars! Register now to participate.
