Keynote Speakers Announced for Quality Support Workshop
AACTE is pleased to announce two keynote speakers for the Quality Support Workshop in Columbus, Ohio, August 2-4: Renée A. Middleton of Ohio University and Paolo DeMaria of the Ohio Department of Education.
The heart of the Quality Support Workshop is a series of hands-on sessions focused on quality assurance, continuous improvement, and performance assessment. Participants work with expert facilitators to develop their own quality assurance plans and other program-specific solutions to problems of practice. At the Ohio event, attendees will have a choice of concurrent workshop sessions in six time slots spread across 3 days, interspersed with group work time, a gallery walk, and office hours with facilitators.
The keynote addresses from state education leaders will help frame the work in a broader context.
Middleton, who is dean of the Patton College of Education at Ohio University and immediate past chair of the AACTE Board of Directors, will kick off the meeting August 2. She will address the intersection of quality, diversity, and inclusion in educator preparation and the importance of both diversifying the teaching workforce and improving the preparation of all teachers to work effectively with all learners.
DeMaria, the state’s superintendent of public instruction, will speak at breakfast August 3. He will discuss the essential knowledge and skills he is looking for in tomorrow’s teachers and offer his perspectives on how PK-12 and higher education can partner most effectively to advance high-quality teaching and learning.
