AACTE Announces Summer Events for 2018

AACTE is excited to announce the dates for our 2018 summer events, offering a variety of targeted professional development for teacher educators. You can join your colleagues from around the country in Washington, DC, to learn to advocate for the profession; meet with fellow new deans and administrators in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for intensive leadership development and networking; and discover best practices for quality assurance in Columbus, Ohio, to help enhance your programs. Group discounts are available for each of these three events, so plan now to bring your friends and colleagues to these popular summer conferences.

Registration is now open for AACTE’s Washington Week, a set of advocacy-focused events held annually in the nation’s capital. Under the theme “Your Voice Matters,” this year’s Washington Week will be held June 3-6 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Virginia, and on Capitol Hill. This annual event features three key components:

  • State Leaders Institute, June 3-4 – The heads of AACTE state chapters meet to discuss state and national policy trends, share advocacy strategies, and build their chapters’ capacity. (Open to chapter leaders/partners only)
  • Holmes Summer Policy Institute, June 4 – Participants in the AACTE Holmes Program convene for an inside look into education policy and the work of leading national education organizations. (Open to all AACTE members – learn how your institution can get involved!)
  • Day on the Hill: June 5-6 – Learn to advocate for the profession and lend your voice with other AACTE members in meetings with elected officials on Capitol Hill. Bring nonmember partners to Day on the Hill as well as students, faculty, and others who can speak to the importance of your work!

Register and make your hotel reservation for Washington Week by May 11 for the best rates.

Registration is now open for AACTE’s Leadership Academy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This popular annual professional development event for emerging leaders will feature new enhancements tested at last year’s convening to provide even more of what you need. Our experienced faculty will guide your learning and provide beneficial information and strategies around allocating resources, managing conflict, and promoting your programs and institutions. Designed for new deans, department chairs, or other administrators, this year’s event will feature both new and returning faculty and the chance to learn with avatars! Take advantage of this chance to invest in your future and advance your career. Register and make your hotel reservation for the Leadership Academy by June 4 to secure your spot.

Registration for the AACTE Quality Support Workshop in Columbus, Ohio, will be available soon. Plan now to join with peers for 2 days of hands-on, expert-facilitated learning and planning around performance assessment, continuous improvement, and quality assurance. This workshop will consist of interactive sessions for program teams and leaders in a professional learning community. Participants will engage in plenary sessions, select from a variety of topics available in break-out blocks, have dedicated time to work in teams and consult with facilitators, and enjoy networking receptions to wrap up each day. With learning outcomes focused on topics of national or local interest, these workshops will provide accessible, targeted support for teams of faculty and staff. Register by May 11 to receive the early bird registration discount.
