Get Support for Assessment, Accreditation, More Through AACTE Courses, Events
Are you looking for assistance in preparing your programs for accreditation or state review? Or maybe you’re in need of guidance on refining your internal quality assurance system, or using performance assessments with your teacher candidates, or just making sense of all the data and other evidence you’re collecting?
AACTE is ready to help you with these and other needs. In fact, you have several options to choose from just this semester, with more being rolled out later in 2017. Whether you prefer to take a convenient online course, hire a trained consultant, or bring your colleagues together for hand-on, facilitated planning, we aim to provide the support you need.
Here are some options you can sign up for right now. Choose just one, or dial up maximum support by immersing yourself in the full sequence!
Free Online Courses
We’re launching our first two enhanced online seminars this winter in partnership with FutureLearn. The courses are free, unless you opt to buy a completion certificate, and are presented by AACTE’s Linda McKee in a globally popular social-learning format.
Sign up for your own professional development, or assign a course to your teacher candidates – these first two are appropriate for prospective as well as practicing educators and run just 3 weeks:
- Designing Assessments to Measure Student Outcomes – Opens TODAY, January 30 (it’s not too late to join!)
- Using Data to Improve Student Outcomes – Opens March 20
Preconference Workshop in Florida
Want to explore these topics in more depth in a face-to-face meeting? Bring a team (or come on your own) to the half-day workshop organized by AACTE Committee on Professional Preparation and Accountability in conjunction with the 2017 AACTE Annual Meeting in Tampa, Florida.
- Rubrics, and Validity, and Reliability: Oh My! – Wednesday, March 1, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
This session will provide opportunities for you to discuss with your peers and colleagues how you are meeting increased expectations surrounding accountability of your programs, including for your graduates’ impact on PK-12 student learning. Tap the expertise of facilitators to help you refine your plans, develop rubrics to assess candidates’ performance in clinical experiences, and acquire strategies to respond to the call for accountability. Advance registration ends February 3 (cost: $50), and space is limited!
Quality Support Workshop in Texas
Is a half day too short to get the quality support you need? Plan to join us in Fort Worth, Texas, this spring (other locations coming soon) for our first regional workshop for 2 full days of facilitated work on a selection of professional issues around teacher performance assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement:
- Quality Support Workshop – South – April 24-26
This event is designed especially for assessment or accreditation teams but is also suitable for solo attendees. Everyone will be able to select break-out sessions of interest and discuss hot topics in the region, sharing challenges as well as solutions. See this article announcing the session lineup for the Texas event. Advance registration ends March 19 (cost varies; team discounts available), and – you guessed it – space is limited.
We’re hard at work to bring you even more options later this year:
- Additional regional workshops in Minneapolis (in August) and Seattle (in November)
- A freshly trained cadre of quality assurance consultants to provide custom support
- A full program of online professional seminars to support your accreditation efforts and train consultants
What are you waiting for? Let us support you!
