‘Opportunity Across America’ Bus Tour Heading Your Way Sept. 12-16
Winding its way from D.C. to Louisiana, the U.S. Department of Education’s 2016 “Opportunity Across America” bus tour kicks off today and runs through Friday. If you’ll be nearby any of the tour stops, you might consider taking the opportunity to connect with national and local officials as an education leader in your community.
U.S. Education Secretary John King and other senior officials will hold events in a variety of settings–mostly PK–12 schools–to highlight the Obama administration’s key initiatives to expand educational opportunity over the past 8 years. Topics for each stop range from the Investing in Innovation program to Teacher Leadership and Race to the Top, and each event will include press availability with Secretary King and local leaders.
Host locations include Louisiana State University and an elementary school in Baton Rouge; a correctional facility in Alabama; and other schools in Louisiana, Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi (find the full list here).
