Meet the AACTE TAG on High-Quality Online Teaching and Learning

Are you an AACTE member interested in online education? If so, please consider joining the Topical Action Group (TAG) on High-Quality Online Teaching and Learning.

The mission of this TAG is to advance the practice of high-quality online teaching and learning by providing current and fluent resources supporting educator preparation and student learning.

Founded in fall 2014, the TAG already has held a variety of meetings, including three collaborative webinar conferences on the following topics based on member interest:

  • June: Instructor Feedback
  • September: Teacher Presence and Disposition
  • November: Student Learning

Currently, the TAG is working toward a major goal of developing a repository of resources to support and advance the study and practice of high-quality online teaching and learning. AACTE members are encouraged to visit our discussion forum to submit information and add topic interests and suggestions for the repository. We also continue to collaborate to develop webinars that focus on specific themes related to online education.

To join the conversation in person, please come to our official business meeting during AACTE’s Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. We will meet Monday, February 22, 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. in the St. Kitts Room at The Mirage Hotel. (The other AACTE TAGs also meet that day—see the Online Event Planner for details.)

We look forward to seeing you at the AACTE Annual Meeting and hope you will take action with us in our fast-growing, progressive TAG.

Imani Akin, University of Phoenix, is chair of the High-Quality Online Teaching and Learning TAG. Delois Maxwell, Bowie State University (MD), is secretary. Janet Stramel, Fort Hays State University (KS), is treasurer.
