Registration Opens This Week for New Online Professional Seminar

AACTE is pleased to open registration for its first in-depth Online Professional Seminar (OPS), Creating a Quality Assurance System, with the first 4-week section launching August 10 and additional sections beginning throughout the fall semester. Participants from AACTE member institutions receive a significant discount on the registration fee, but the seminars are open to the public as part of the Association’s Quality Support Initiative.

Already, hundreds of educators have participated in the two free introductory seminars, OPS #1: Building Quality Assessments and OPS #2: Using Data for Improvement. Additional sections of these two free seminars are still open for registration on a first-come, first-served basis.

Although the introductory courses originally were intended as prerequisites for the subsequent in-depth seminars, AACTE will allow registrants to determine their own readiness based on prior experience—so users may register for any OPS they choose.

The following courses are scheduled for the remainder of 2015 (more will be added later). As of this week, registration is open only for OPS #1-3; OPS #4-6 will open later this summer.

Introductory Level (free to AACTE members and nonmembers)

OPS #1: Building Quality Assessments
This introductory seminar emphasizes creation of and evaluation of locally produced instruments, focusing specifically on rubrics and surveys.

OPS #2: Using Data for Improvement
This introductory seminar focuses on data, findings, and actions for continuous improvement.

In-Depth Courses (fee-based)

OPS #3: Creating a Quality Assurance System
This OPS emphasizes the development and review of a quality assurance system and the components of quality assessments and data.

OPS #4: Making the Case for Accreditation: Standards and Evidence
This OPS focuses on standards for accreditation, using CAEP standards as examples. Considerations for selecting, using, and presenting evidence-based cases for an accreditation review are included.

OPS #5: Preparing for Accreditation
This OPS emphasizes the process of planning and executing strategies for successful accreditation.

OPS #6: Leveraging Accreditation for Quality Improvement
This OPS addresses typical requirements and preparation for an accreditation site visit. Emphasis is on the role of a site visit in the improvement cycle.

Registration for the in-depth seminars costs $50 per course for each participant from AACTE member institutions and $125 for nonmembers. Discounts are available for groups of more than five registrants from the same institution or organization; see the Quality Support Initiative web page for details.

The OPS series was developed in response to AACTE members’ interest in using data effectively to document success and drive improvement. This interest has been strongly confirmed by the high participation rate to date, even during the summer! Stay tuned for additional offerings for accreditation coordinators, clinical faculty, and more.
