Notice of TQP Funding Opportunity: Applications Due July 15
Updated to reflect new application deadline.
Applications are now available for a new slate of Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) grants, the federal government’s only investment in reforming teacher preparation in institutions of higher education. Interested applicants will have to act quickly, though—the deadline for letters of intent is June 27, and full applications are due July 15.
Last week, in the Federal Register, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) announced the availability of approximately $35 million in new awards for fiscal year 2014 under the TQP grant program.
TQP grants support partnerships among institutions, high-need school districts, and schools to prepare effective teachers. The federal funds are used to develop master’s-level teaching residency programs or to reform undergraduate preservice preparation programs. By the end of fiscal year 2015, 40 partnerships will have prepared 10,000 teacher candidates through a 1-year teaching residency or other extensive clinical work.
This year, the program will give priority to applicants promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) areas and to those implementing college- and career-ready standards.
Please note these key dates in the application process:
