Education Policy Fellowship Program Recruiting for 2018-19 Cohort

The Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) is currently recruiting participants for the 2018-19 fellowship year. EPFP is a 10-month professional development experience delivered in partnership by the Institute for Educational Leadership and 17 site partners.

What makes the Fellowship unique is its intentional focus on three pillars:

  • Policy: Fellows learn about specific policy issues; policy-making and implementation processes; the interface of local, state, and national policies; and the practices effective leaders use to function in the policy environment.
  • Leadership: Fellows develop familiarity with different types of leadership, become aware of their potential as leaders, and learn from interactions with proven leaders.
  • Networking: Fellows learn to establish action-oriented and mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues, expand their range of strategies for developing and using power and influence, and build and sustain a larger and more diverse range of professional resources and contacts.

This approach builds the capacity of leaders in and across the education field. Fellows learn from and with each other about the social and policy context of the communities in which they study, teach, and work.

Through the program, faculty and staff in schools of education have the opportunity to share their on-the-ground perspectives and influence policy makers’ thinking about education, while gaining deeper understanding of policy processes, a nationwide network of contacts and potential partners, and leadership skills for personal and professional growth.

The cohort of fellows exemplifies the program’s hallmark feature, cross-institutional diversity: a third are school and district leaders; a third 2- and 4-year college faculty, staff, and administrators; and a third leaders in diverse sectors including community-based organizations, state-level nonprofits, and government agencies. Upon graduation you will join an alumni network of 9,000 leaders across the country!

Applications are now open, with submission deadlines generally in June and July (varies by state/site). Find your local site here and apply today!
