Registration is now open for AACTE’s Washington Week, a set of advocacy-focused events held annually in the nation’s capital. This year’s Washington Week will be held June 4-7 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View in Arlington, Virginia, and on Capitol Hill. The week includes the following signature events:

State Leaders Institute: June 4-5
AACTE chapter leaders will discuss trends in state policies affecting educator preparation. Attendees will share best practices for chapters to support the profession, hear how leaders from across the country are addressing challenges, and learn how to increase state chapters’ capacity and advocacy work.

Holmes Summer Policy Institute: June 5
AACTE Holmes Program students will gain an inside look into education policy. Attendees will learn about the connections between policy and research and explore national-level programming focused on underrepresented populations. Registration for the Holmes Scholars Summer Institute includes participation in Day on the Hill.

Day on the Hill: June 6-7
AACTE member faculty, teacher candidates, and AACTE Holmes Program participants will engage in training for conducting advocacy in D.C. as well as at home. The following day, they will employ their new skills in the halls of Congress, meeting with elected officials and their staff to highlight important work and advocate for key policy issues.
