Schedule Announced for Texas Quality Support Workshop

A preliminary schedule of sessions is now available for AACTE’s regional Quality Support Workshop in Texas. From April 24 through 26, you can engage in your choice of facilitated workshop sessions, plan with your team, take part in roundtable discussions, and connect with peers at the Sheraton Fort Worth Downtown Hotel.

Whether you are an accreditation or assessment coordinator, clinical faculty member, dean or department chair, or even a state agency official, this workshop will offer you valuable resources and custom support for your quality assurance challenges. During the four 90-minute main session blocks, you’ll choose from topics covering both broad and specific aspects of performance measurement, approaches to preparing for accreditation, diversity and equity concerns, program improvement, and more.

If you come with a team, you’ll have time to collaborate with your colleagues after each workshop session to discuss and apply what you have learned to your program’s needs. You’ll also get a chance to participate in discussions around pressing topics that you identify with your fellow registrants – so come with your problems, and then leave with solutions!

Some of the workshop sessions are planned as a thematic sequence over the four time blocks, while others offer standalone content. Below are a couple of sample sessions:

Equitable Teaching Practices in Performance Measurement

Analyze edTPA constructs as sources of evidence for candidate performance related to equitable teaching practices, such as:

  • Leveraging assets to plan, engage, and assess learners equitably
  • Teaching toward deeper learning
  • Differentiating and individualizing instruction

Curriculum Mapping for High-Leverage Practices

Use curriculum-mapping tools to identify potential for program improvements specific to teacher candidates’ development of “high-leverage practices” (HLPs) of teaching. Goals include –

  • Initiating or enhancing an analysis of support for the targeted HLPs
  • Sharing learnings about the support of HLPs
  • Trying out a process that can be taken back to maintain
