Last Call for 2016 AACTE Award Entries

This is the final week to submit applications for the AACTE Awards Program. All entries for Best Practice Awards and Professional Achievement Awards must be submitted online by Friday, October 9, at midnight EDT.

The selection process for the awards is by peer review, led by AACTE’s standing committees. I asked one committee chair, Kevin J. Graziano of Nevada State College, how the awards program contributes to the profession. (Graziano chairs AACTE’s Committee on Innovation and Technology, which is responsible for reviewing applications for the Best Practice Award for the Innovative Use of Technology.)

“There are countless exemplary programs and individuals from across our nation who have made significant contributions to educator preparation,” Graziano said. “With budget cuts in higher education, many schools, colleges, and departments work with limited resources yet, in the end, produce outstanding products. AACTE awards provide an opportunity to honor and showcase the effective implementation of such contributions to the profession.”

“Identified as experts in the field,” he continued, “award recipients can become role models for faculty and doctoral students, inspire others to rethink their practice and professional development, and motivate others to replicate similar work. It is an honor to spotlight work that educator preparation colleagues recognize as outstanding and a best practice.”

The AACTE Awards Program has been recognizing excellence in educator preparation for 20 years. Now is your chance to nominate your program or an outstanding individual to be recognized with an AACTE award. All entries will be reviewed by the AACTE standing committees, and winners will be recognized at the 2016 Annual Meeting, February 23–25 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
