TQP Grant Competition now Open: Applications due May 20

The U.S. Department of Education has released its Notice of Inviting Applications for the Fiscal Year 2019 Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) Grants in the Federal Register. TQP is the only federal initiative dedicated to strengthening and transforming educator preparation at institutions of higher education and to meet the workforce needs of high need school districts and schools.

Here are some key dates:

April 4, 2019

Pre-recorded informational webinars will be posted on the TQP applicant website designed to provide technical assistance to interested applicants for grants under TQP program.

May 3, 2019

Deadline for Notice of Intent to Apply: Applicants are strongly encouraged, but not required, to submit a notice of intent to apply.

May 20, 2019

Deadline for transmittal of applications

The priorities for this competition include computer science and STEM teacher preparation, novice grantees (looking for applicants who have not received TQP grants in prior competitions), and grants that propose to do work in “opportunity zones” as defined by Internal Revenue Code and designated by census track number. Full definitions and clarifications can be found in the Federal Register announcement.
