Call for Nominations: ACSR Executive Committee

The AACTE Advisory Council of State Representatives (ACSR) seeks nominations by October 13 of state chapter leaders to run in an election for the ACSR Executive Committee. The positions open for election are the South Region representative, Midwest Region representative, and ACSR chair-elect, all to take office in March 2018.

Terms and Roles

Regional representatives will serve on the Executive Committee for a 2-year term, and the chair-elect will serve for a total of 3 years – one as chair-elect, one as chair, and one as immediate past chair. The commitment to these offices includes the following:

  • Participate in a monthly conference call with the ACSR Executive Committee
  • Plan, lead, and/or participate in ACSR quarterly regional calls
  • Plan and deliver ACSR concurrent sessions at AACTE Annual Meeting and during AACTE Washington Week
  • Attend the AACTE Annual Meeting and Washington Week
  • Serve as liaison to other partner organizations as needed
  • Provide leadership to various ACSR committees

In addition to their duties leading ACSR, the chair-elect, chair, and immediate past chair also serve on the AACTE Board of Directors.

For more information on the responsibilities of members of the ACSR Executive Committee, please review the ACSR bylaws.

Eligibility

Regional representatives must be a current leader in one of the region’s states. The South Region includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Midwest Region includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

For all positions, only current presidents or immediate past presidents of state chapters are eligible (or AACTE-appointed state liaison representatives, in states without a chapter). You may nominate yourself or anyone else who meets these requirements, regardless of your or their home state.

Once the nominations period closes, a nominating committee will determine the final slate of candidates to appear on the online ballot. Only members of ACSR will be eligible to vote in the election, which will run in mid- to late November.

To nominate yourself or a colleague for the ACSR Executive Committee, complete our online nomination form by 6:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, October 13.
